Automated Arrivals System

Why not use out new touch screen system to let us know you have arrived for your appointment? It’s simple to use and lets you know who you are seeing, at what time and the approximate waiting time. It also lets the receptionists and Doctor know you have arrived.

Having an arrivals kiosk allows you to check in for your appointment quickly and easily. It also reduces queues at the reception desk which allows the receptionists to deal with other more complicated enquiries.

To use the system all you need to do is select whether you want to check in by using your date of birth or your fingerprint.

To use your date of birth (available to all patients)

  • Select the Date of Birth option
  • Select whether you are male or female
  • Enter your month of birth
  • Enter your day of birth
  • The screen will then show your initials, your postcode and your appointment time
  • If these are correct select the arrive me option
  • The screen will show your full name, the time of your appointment, who you are seeing and any possible waiting time
  • Ensure you select clear screen afterwards to prevent others seeing your appointment details (your details will automatically disappear after 20 secs

To use your fingerprint (patients need to register for this service first)

Before you can use this system you will need to complete a Finger Print Consent Form which can be downloaded from this link.

Get Abobe ReaderYou will need a pdf reader to view pdf files. The Adobe Acrobat® reader may be downloaded free of charge by clicking on the Adobe icon to the right.

Once you have completed the consent form you will need to bring this into the surgery and have your fingerprint taken. This is a simple, quick and painless procedure. Once completed you can register your arrival by;

  • Selecting the Fingerprint option
  • Place you right forefinger on the fingerprint sensor which is at the bottom of the touch screen
  • The screen will show your full name, the time of your appointment, who you are seeing and any possible waiting time
  • Ensure you select clear screen afterwards to prevent others seeing your appointment details (if not selected your details will automatically disappear after 20 seconds)

If the system does not recognise your finger print

  • You may not have registered to use the system. To register see the section above on how to register
  • You may have placed your finger incorrectly – i.e. on the screen and not in the flashing finger reader module beneath the screen
  • Your finger may have been incorrectly read by the finger reader. Replace your finger and try again.

How your finger print is stored and who has access to it?
Your finger print is stored as a series of numbers (not as a photo) along side your medical record in a secure and encrypted (i.e. scrambled) format. The surgery are the only people who have access to this information, as with your medical records and these are all subject to the regulations laid down in the Data Protection Act (1998).

If you do not want to register to use the Automated Arrivals System you can still use our services exactly as before. Your decision not to register will not affect your treatment or your relationship with your surgery in any way.
